Artist Statement

My multidisciplinary practice combines diaristic elements with cultural commentary. I identify as both an anthropologist and a visual sociologist, focusing on cultural differences influenced by my upbringing in a Colombian household, as well as issues related to relationships, religion, gender, race, and class.
I utilize various mediums to examine and research themes or issues that occupy my mind. Once I develop a conceptual idea for my art project, I choose the medium that best conveys my intentions and vision, which can include drawing, photography, video, sculpture, painting, and photomontage.
My goal is to create open-ended reflections that affirm life as constant flux, ever-evolving, and sometimes repeating in cycles, and to spark conversations that resonate with the viewer.
